Someplace: [Here & Now]

While creating the series ‘Neither Here Nor There’ Erin Wolf became inspired to construct a three dimensional version of her work, which is currently showcased in her ‘Someplace: [Here & Now]’ exhibit. Both ‘Neither Here Nor There’ and ‘Here and Now’ are tangentially about the impact of space on Wolfs relationships.  The complicated and beautiful California landscape serves as the perfect medium to explore these connections. Wolf bonded together geometric shapes and organic lines to create her own colorful landscapes in shadow boxes. The abstracting and layering process Wolf uses mimics the depth of the scenery in which Wolf surrounds herself.  Navigating the volumetric space of the boxes allows the layers of her landscape inspired work to breath and create additional spatial relationships. The colors repeated throughout the series are inspired by Wolf’s appreciation of the Southern California terrain. Wolf decided to title this body of work “Someplace: [Here & Now]” to honor the idea of staying present in life and celebrating the environment.
