Neither Here Nor There

Moving to Los Angeles has made a big impact on Erin Wolf as it marked her entry into adulthood.  Like many others, Wolf traveled to Los Angeles in search of something. There she found stability, happiness, and independence.  “Neither Here nor There” is a series inspired by the California landscape and the relationships Wolf has maintained and created traveling west. This series celebrates the scenery in a formal way by simplifying it and abstracting it into clean shapes, lines and colors. The warm and vibrant hues of the work represents a feeling of home. When Wolf moved to Los Angeles in 2014 she was in awe of the mountains. The peaks and valleys of the California landscape resonate with the ebbs and flows Wolf has experienced in her establishment of new relationships as well as the maintenance required of her to keep past relationships intact.  Each piece is dedicated to one of these personal connections and is named from a conversation Wolf has had with that individual.
